This is my Final Fantasy 4 page. FF4 was my first Final Fantasy, mostly because I can't stand 8-bit games which is why I never played FF1, 2, and 3.

The save files include:
FF4 (J, unoff-j2e).srm - My savegame. All characters at level 99, best armor and weapons (yes, including all of the ridiculously hard to get stuff), and all of Rydia's summons (yes, including the 4 ridiculously hard to get worthless ones)

FF4 FAQ:
- There are 5 versions of FF4.
- FF4J: The original FF4 was never released outside of Japan. It is often incorrectly called "Hardtype" because it is harder than FF2US and FF4JE, and most English-speaking FF4 fans have probably never played it. Nevertheless, it is THE FF4 and none of the offical English translations come close being as good.
- FF2US: The first English-translated FF4 was renamed to FF2 because the real FF2 and 3 were never sold in the US, making FF4 the second FF game to be released in the US. This version is poorly translated, many items removed, characters renamed, story altered, story censored, and all around sucked compared to the real thing.
- FF4JE: FF4JE (Easytype) is an even easier version of FF2US, sans the poor translation because it was never translated into English. Along with inheriting all of FF2US' changes, it had some of it's own, such as a complete makeover of the final boss.
- FF4C: Yet another version of FF4 was made for the Playstation Final Fantasy Chronicles package. This version is the closest (official) match to the original you'll find in English. Everything survived the porting except the character names, which are based off the horrid FF2US translation. Damn you Square!
- FF4J (unoff-j2e): The One True Version of FF4 for English speakers. Info below.

- FF4 J2E is an unofficial translation of the REAL FF4 done by this guy. Download the patch for the FF4J ROM here. Character names, storyline, items, all intact. You haven't played FF4 until you've played it on this ROM, or you happen to speak Japanese and you played the original FF4J. FF4 Chronicles players are not exceptions, FF4C is very close, but not quite a match. Sorry.
- Because the character name changes in both American versions FF4 really bug me, I'm going to list them. They renamed Cain to Kain, Gilbert to Edward (this one really bugs me), and Tella to Tellah. There are more, but none of them are main characters. So if your game has characters named as Kain, Edward, and Tellah, you're not playing the real thing. Sorry.
- To anyone who has wasted insane amounts of time trying to get 5 pieces of the famous adamant armor or all of Rydia's summons, there is a better way! I've been playing this game for over a decade and I've only managed to get one piece of adamant armor and 2 of Rydia's bonus uber rare item-summons. So one day I sat down with a hex editor and brute forced myself all the items I wanted. Why? This stuff is just too damn hard to get legit. I am an honorable hacker though! I only gave myself the hard stuff: crystal rings, adamant armors, glass helms, and rydia's useless item-summons. Everything else in my save file is legit. If you want to hack yourself some items, open your FF4 ZST in a hex editor. Your item inventory goes from address 2053 to 20b2. There are two bytes for each item. The first byte is the item's hex ID and the second byte is the quantity you have. So, for example, to create a dragon whip, you need to replace a 00 00 within that address range with 37 01. Here is a list of the hex IDs for the ultra rare items you may resort to hacking to create:
- 15 Silence Staff
- 37 Dragon Whip
- 80 Glass Helm
- 9A Adamant Armor
- AC Crystal Ring
- E7 Goblin Summon
- E8 Bomb Summon
- E9 Cocktric Summon
- EA MindFlay Summon
- Every other item you could possibly want is either not too difficult to obtain or is totally useless and not worth getting. Granted, Rydia's item-summons are pretty useless, I just like having a full list of spells.
